| 520 | _aThe production of a second edition of an established text represents a valuable opportunity to revisit the original work in order to amend, up-date and generally enhance the book in light of subsequent developments in the field of enquiry. This is especially relevant in the case of Tourism Geography since the period in which the first edition was compiled (the mid-1990s) has emerged, in hindsight, as a time of significant development in geographical approaches to the understanding of tourism. So whilst the first edition was generally well received as a sound, basic articulation of some rather traditional perspectives on tourism geography, it was also criticised-quite fairly-as perhaps failing to reflect in sufficient depth the new understanding of tourism that was emerging at the time from fields such as cultural geography and related postmodern critical positions. | ||
