At the economic and geo-political level, a recognition of commonality, at least of economic and strategic interests, is visible in the formation of bodies such as ASEAN and SAARC, but at the level of people to people contact, at an intellectual level, these networks are only now beginning to form, but despite their recent history, their value and importance is already evident.
