Research is an important function in our society, global economy and in our disci-plines of leisure, recreation, parks and tourism. A research methods class requires a student to be critical, detail oriented, questioning, constantly thinking, and adept at finding new ways of writing and rewriting. Research methods classes help students formulate, organize and write their thoughts in a logical manner. At the end of the research methods class, and reading associated books and research materials, students tend to become better consumers and users of research and more informed citizens of our society as they learn systems, processes and tools that are used to attack flaws in logic and arguments.
