- xviii, 390p. ; ill. Includes reference and index
This book is structured so that the scene is first set, introducing the context in which work is done, the views of workers and managers on work, and rationality and its place in how work is organized. Next, we look at the classi management topics: structure (including bureaucracy), motivation, leader-Ship, perception, personality, learning, teams, culture, and change. These topics are discussed in such way that the main ideas are articulated, but they are also critiqued. Finally, we consider the more critice approaches, issues of power, control resistance, alternative forms of organization, the place of emotion and stress in work and organization.
