Physics Matters follows the traditional historical approach to the presentation of physics, beginning with mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism, and progressing from them to the physics of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. This division reflects both the history of the science and a difference in focus and subject matter. Although we do not make an explicit distinction, the division be-tween classical and modern physics is pretty clear in the text.
